As hopes for a strong economic recovery fade for this year, nearly 3,500 people per week are calling United Way 2-1-1, where more than half of all requests are for housing and utility assistance – basic human needs.
In June, 13,907 people sought 2-1-1 help, and 6-in-10 were first-time callers who’d never needed assistance before.
