Reeling From the Death of His Best Friend, Chris Found Hope and Healing Through Edgewood Children’s Ranch

Not long ago, Winter Park resident Chris Matos was an average 15-year-old leading a pretty typical life. As a sophomore at University High School, he played football, competed on the wrestling team, got decent grades and stayed out of trouble.

But everything changed one afternoon four years ago when he witnessed the fatal stabbing of his best friend Mikey. Unable to deal with his grief and anger, Chris turned to a life of drugs, truancy and gangs, which he was able to escape thanks to help he received from Edgewood Children’s Ranch, a United Way Partner agency.  Click here to hear  his amazing story.
