As part of the special coverage, reporter Amanda Ober interviewed a 2-1-1 caller, Ken Lysiak of Ocoee, whose story really highlights how hard the recession has hit many families.
A 58-year-old Army veteran, Ken had worked for the same trucking company for nearly 15 years. But when the economy crashed and he lost his job, he wasn’t able to find another despite a solid work history and willingness to do almost any work.
Facing eviction, he called 2-1-1 where he found the help he needed to keep his family — which includes his young granchildren — together during the crisis. It’s been a long, difficult road, but things are looking up for Ken, which makes us feel great – because he’s a great guy! Click here for the full story.
