Just got word that UPS has reached the $1 billion mark in its 28-year history of supporting United Way organizations around the nation. Talk about being a driving force for change!
Here in our own community, UPS Central Florida District led by David Ruiz, has been one of Heart of Florida United Way’s strongest and most generous partners. Last year alone – despite having 686 fewer employees – UPS exceeded its goal to raise $344,878 for our local workplace giving campaign.
Although our 2010-11 campaign doesn’t officially kick off until September, UPS is again leading the way with a Pacesetter campaign – one that runs early and sets an example for others to follow. So far, they’ve conducted more than 20 employee presentations and have some great events planned, including a tailgate cookout, a casino night and bowling party.
But their support doesn’t end there. UPS and its employees also give back by taking part in United Way Days of Caring, Central Florida’s largest community-wide volunteer event. Last year, employees volunteered at The Salvation Army of Orange County where they washed vans and provided other support.
UPS is a terrific community partner who’s totally committed to going the extra mile in making a difference. So if you see a UPS driver this week, don’t forget to honk and say thanks – or click here to sign a group thank you card.
