Walls, as many of you already know, grew up in a brilliant, eccentric and often homeless family, which routinely went without food and indoor plumbing. Rather than dwell on hardships, she and her siblings were encouraged to read Shakespeare and dream of someday living in a beautiful glass house.
It’s an incredible story − and we’re so excited to hear her discuss how she overcame poverty, hunger, homelessness and other critical issues that United Way is working to alleviate in our own community.

The Women’s Leadership Initiative, now in its fourth year, raises funds, awareness and volunteer support to address the unique health and human service needs of women – and those they love.
