Thanks to a partnership between the Walmart Foundation and United Way Worldwide, Heart of Florida United Way recently collaborated with the global nonprofit One Economy in promoting The Beehive project, which helps people improve their personal financial stability through a variety of online tools.
During tax season, The Beehive helps people file their taxes for free online. Earlier this month, we worked with Tim Haines from One Economy in presenting this wonderful tool to more than 30 Disney cast members. All were able to electronically file their own taxes at absolutely no cost!
Linking people to free, reliable tax preparation assistance is one of the aims of United Way’s Prosperity Campaign of Central Florida. That’s why we were thrilled to help coordinate this project for one of United Way’s most valued partners – and the area’s largest employer.
We wish to offer a big “thank you” to Marlene Carlson and Theo Porter at Walt Disney World, as well as Tim Haines at One Economy for helping make this possible. We’re also deeply grateful to the students at Barry University Law School who volunteered their time and tax expertise to help others.
