In honor of National Volunteer Week, Heart of Florida United Way is hosting a special event for our volunteers and supporters. We hope you can come!
Step Right Up! is a family-friendly volunteer carnival complete with free games, prizes, food and fun. Best of all, you’ll learn about local volunteer opportunities and be able to complete four fun volunteer projects right at the event. The projects, which align with United Way’s Investing In Results focus areas, include:
- 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.: Alleviate Hunger and Homelessness by sorting food for Second Harvest Food Bank.
- 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.: Improve Financial Stability by painting piggy banks and playing a jelly bean savings game with kids served by United Way agencies.
- Noon: Develop Healthy Children and Families by making educational coloring books and reading to children about healthy habits.
- 12:45 p.m.: Build a Safer Community by playing kickball with at-risk youth from local agencies.
The carnival will also include hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and chances to earn free LIVE UNITED t-shirts. We believe everyone will find that Step Right Up! is a terrific, entertaining way to make a lasting difference in Central Florida.
So mark your calendars for Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The carnival will be held at United Way headquarters, 1940 Traylor Blvd., Orlando, FL 32804.
By the way, volunteers are also needed to help set up and tear down for this event. Please email Shari Orr at Shari.Orr@hfuw.org if you would like to get involved as a leadership volunteer!
We hope to see you at Step Right Up! Click here for more details and to register.
