Each year, United Way’s Campaign helps nearly 347,600 Central Floridians in need – people like the Velezquez family of Kissimmee, whose story is highlighted in the video above.
After a lifetime of hard work, Jose, a devoted husband and father, found himself unemployed, seriously ill and unable to hold his family together. Thanks to a generous community, United Way was there to help.
1-in-5 Living in Poverty
With our 2012-13 campaign underway, your continued support is critically important. Over the past four years, the poverty rate in Central Florida has shot up 12%, leaving an estimated 1-in-5 residents struggling to afford the most basic needs.
Reflecting this, nearly 500 people per day are seeking help through United Way 2-1-1, where utilities, housing and food consistently rank as the top-three requests for assistance.
So won’t you please join Campaign Chair, Shawn Bartelt, Vice President and General Manager of WFTV-Channel 9 and WRDQ Central Florida’s TV 27, and thousands of other local leaders and companies who are committed to making a difference?
