Last week, the HFUW Together for Tomorrow VISTA team took a break from recruiting and managing school volunteers to help sort food at Second Harvest Food Bank. It was the perfect recipe for helping improve our community while getting to know each other a little better. This was especially important for our new VISTA members (beginning their year of service on November 11th) to learn from those who’ve spent the last year recruiting caring community members to work with students needing a little extra support. In fact, they couldn’t have had better teachers as last year’s VISTAs were able to recruit more than 1,200 volunteers.
We sincerely thank our VISTAs who will be leaving us soon for all their many accomplishments and look forward to sharing the successes of our newest team members as they embark on their journeys of service. Overall, it was a wonderful day of friendship, learning and valuing the efforts of all who strive to make Central Florida a better place.
