Heart of Florida United Way invites you to “Share the Love” on Valentine’s Day by volunteering in your community on Friday, February 14, 2014. This year, instead of chocolates and roses, bring joy into people’s lives. Throughout Osceola, Orange and Seminole counties, United Way’s Volunteer Resource Center will be engaging volunteers in service to individuals and families affected by hunger and homelessness.
In any given week, an estimated 55,000 Central Florida residents are experiencing hunger or relying on food pantry assistance. To us, that number is too high and we need your help to lower it. Not many people think about community service when they think of Valentine’s Day, but with your help we can Share the Love in Central Florida.
Activities will be taking place all day long and volunteers may choose from many types of projects, including:
- Sorting food donations at a food bank or emergency pantry
- Serving a meal to homeless families
- Cooking a meal for students at a school for at-risk youth
- Putting together weekend snack packs for low-income elementary students to take home
- And many more!
Grab your sweetheart, a friend, family member or co-worker and Share the Love this Valentine’s Day by volunteering to help those in need.
