April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month, and Heart of Florida United Way is celebrating by spotlighting some of our community’s outstanding volunteers! Throughout the month, we’ll share some of the nominees for Heart of Florida United Way’s Community Volunteer Excellence Awards. UCF KNIGHTS Clinic is one of United Way’s many candidates being recognized for going above and beyond in the community.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT in Developing Healthy Children & Families:
UCF College of Medicine (COM) KNIGHTS Clinic Volunteers is one of the community groups that share a common goal with Heart of Florida United Way and exceeds expectations.
UCF KNIGHTS Clinic is coordinated by medical students at UCF COM and staffed by student and physician volunteers from all areas of study, including medical, nursing, undergraduate, and graduate students, working in interdisciplinary teams alongside community collaborators and under the guided supervision of licensed practitioners. They strive to provide medical and preventive care to those without any healthcare coverage and inform the community using an interdisciplinary based approach. KNIGHTS Clinic’s hard work and dedication sets them apart. Besides their stringent academic schedule and other medical school requirements, they have been able to make it work for every aspect of the clinic. They dedicated themselves to research the best model for student-run clinics, recruited students that are interested in participating, created a manual, scheduled training, and manage every phase of the clinic. Their commitment to patient care and the community has been undeniably sensational.
We are proud to recognize these great volunteers for their diligent work.
